What is acne?

Acne can affect people from ages 10 through 40 and up. Acne can show up as any of the following; congested pores, whiteheads, blackheads, pimples, pustules, or cysts. These blemishes occur wherever there are many oil (sebaceous) glands, mainly on the face, chest, and back. Acne is commonly referred to in slang as zits.

You can do a lot for your acne if you understand what brings it on and what really doesn't (despite what people tell you) and if you know what you can get at a drugstore or cosmetic counter without a prescription. For tougher cases, you should consult a physician.?

What causes acne?

There are different ways you can get acne. A lot of it comes from hormones and stress. Some oily skin care products can also cause acne. If you wash your face to much,  it can aggravate your face causing acne. Some shampoos can even cause acne.

How do I prevent acne?

Try to use a good basic skin care routine. Acne is not caused by poor hygiene although you still should wash your face two or more times a day.
As soon as you wake up in the morning, wash your face.
The reason you should wash your face is because excess skin cells build up in the glands.
Try 5% Benzoyl peroxide solution. Try not to use anything more than 5% because it can cause excess dryness and can damage your skin.
Tea tree oil is a very good cleanser and is clinically proven to help your skin look better and feel better.

Does toothpaste really help my skin?

Toothpaste can help your skin, but  it can also dry out your face.
Toothpaste also helps the redness of your acne go away. If I had to rate toothpaste as a good skin cleanser,  I would mark it as a 5 out of 10.
